I would like to learn about different social groups and their verbal and nonverbal forms of communication. I would also like to focus on cultures that are currently suffering from the plague of war and lack of basic needs and to understand their plight and how they deal with death and violence when it is happening every day in their world.

I am willing to dive into all the material presented and to participate and listen and be open to new ideas from my peers and teacher. I hope to discover more compassion within myself to accept all people from all walks of life.

My expectations for this course is to learn a lot about other cultures and about things that I wouldn't otherwise notice. My responsibility is to keep an open mind and participate in class without offending or being disrespectful to anyone also to expand my boundaries. The teacher's responsobility is to give us all this new material and expand our boundaries but help us to do that by providing info. Our responsobility to one another is to respect each other and participate in class discussions.

I think this class is going to be FUN! I like the whole hands on aspect, rather than lecture, lecture... I like the idea of learning more about communication in general, but also like the idea of becoming more aware of the cultural differences, and actively accommodating for them.
